Position Summary

SOI has a fast-paced work environment. We seek determined and talented individuals willing to

Your role will be responsible for all aspects of electrical design, analysis and development of new

and advanced solar systems. You will work closely with EPC contractor to make sure for their designs

compliance with scope of works and technical requirements. You will be required to attend site

surveys and system commissioning tests when necessary. To ensures that milestones and

deliverables are met through the life of the project.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepares detailed electrical drawings for PV systems from concept to construction. This

includes site layouts, three-lines, protection schemes, and DC & AC system design.

  • Analyzes reports, maps, drawings, tests, etc. in order to plan, design and implement a

project.

  • Prepares and modifies PV electrical designs, specifications, Site Plans, and schedules for

projects based on site constraints such as environmental, permitting, and utility requirements.

  • Interpret and implement utility specific design requirements
  • Proficient in the National Electric Code (NEC) Regulations
  • Interact with electricity utility companies and regulatory authorities with regard to solar PV

Projects

  • Coordinates and collaborates with other design and technical professionals who are part of

the project team to create a cohesive design set

  • Assists in Developing construction cost estimates
  • Required to perform field inspections, research, and measurements.
  • Technical assessment of PV products and equipment’s
  • Maintaining records and databases
  • Interact with electricity utility companies and regulatory authorities with regard to solar PV

projects

  • Serve as point-of-contact for customers/clients during each project
  • Analyse electrical designs from specifications and surveys
  • Inverters and HV experience would be advantageous
  • Organise with development and engineering to develop preliminary design budget
  • Perform regular check-ins with job superintendents to gauge project progress
  • Monitors Project construction schedules and determines need for intervention to ensure timely

completion.

  • Reviews, evaluates, and otherwise keeps updated on contractor activities about safe and

efficient operation through personal contact with responsible contractor personnel.

  • Monitors project budgets/schedules and recommends adjustments
  • Supervises and manages project
  • Conducts pre-construction conferences, utility coordination meetings, construction progress

meetings, and other types of conferences and meetings

  • Recommends resolution of field construction problems and design changes
  • Prepares/Reviews independent detailed construction estimates
  • Works with the project design group, materials, environmental, traffic engineering right of way,

and all other parties necessary to resolve issues and meet contract schedules and budget

requirements

  • Handles any or all duties of Construction supervision positions on an as needed basis

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree, preferred majors include electrical engineering;
  • English fluency.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience performing design of solar PV systems and products;
  • Experienced with solar PV system design, inverters, wiring, grounding, utilities interface

and performance monitoring. Experienced with Semiconductor technology desired;

  • Technically proficient in the field of photovoltaic conversion, direct current circuits and

protection designs with a working knowledge of solar PV system modelling;

  • Familiar with international Standards for solar PV systems, and other relevant standards;
  • Solid general knowledge of computer technology and be proficient with 2D and 3D modelling

software such as Solid-works and AutoCAD.

  • Have a passion for renewable energy and want to ensure a future for the environment.

Overseas trips may be required for technical support, training and internal/external meetings;

  • Dynamic work attitude with focus on getting things done.
  • Strong passion in construction management.
  • Good MS Office skills particularly in Excel, Words and Power point.
  • Able to work independently and meticulous.
  • Must be willing to travel at short notice and go for site visits.

Desirable

  • 2+ years solar project management experience including projects of at least 500 kW+
  • 6+ years previous experience in project management and/or construction operations
  • An interest in renewable energy
  • Understanding major aspects of business administration

The position will report directly to the Senior Solar Electrical Design and Construction Manager
