On the morning of September 20, 2020, the groundbreaking ceremony of the solar rooftop project developed by Shire Oak International for Tan Hiep Phat Beverage Group (THP) was successfully held right at the Number One factory in Hậu Giang, Vietnam. The contracting representatives are Mr. Mark Shorrock, CEO of Shire Oak International (SOI), and Mr. Trần Quí Thanh, Founder & CEO of THP.

Founded in 1994, Tan Hiep Phat Beverage Group (“THP”) is Vietnam’s largest FMCG (Fast-moving Consumer Goods) business. THP develops, produces and sells three of Vietnam’s national brands and supplies drinks to all of Vietnam’s 63 provinces, and to an additional 16 countries internationally. Their products include herbal teas, green teas, sport drinks, energy drinks, soya milk, and purified water.

Under the contract, THP is getting a 12 MW system to power their activities. Speaking on the importance of renewable energy, Dr. Thanh stated: “In Vietnam and other SEA countries, renewable energy is playing a  great part in a business’s success. The Number One factory is pioneering the use of clean energy in production. By using solar rooftops, we are generating 18 million kWh each year, off-setting a large amount of carbon emission that contributes to global warming and climate change.

To best express his sincerity and commitment to the project, Mr. Mark delivered his speech in Vietnamese so that everyone could understand, saying: “I would like to thank Dr. Thanh for holding the ceremony. I am pleased be here today as THP’s partner. I hope that today’s project will soon propel Vietnam to be the leading country in the development of renewable energy.”

The ceremony marked an important milestone in the cooperation between two parties.
